About Creative Arts Camp

Creative Arts Camp (CAC) is an exciting experience for your child who has completed 1st-6th grade. The goal of CAC is for your child to get a taste of the arts: visual arts, dance, Bible art journaling, woodworking, exposure to instruments, singing, and basic music theory through professional artists. CAC meets Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:00 pm immediately following VBS – except for Friday. On Friday, CAC will end promptly at 3:00 pm. The musical will include dance, a sign language choir (1st-3rd graders), and singing and will be presented at Family Night, Thursday at 6:00 pm. Space is limited – register now!

Majors:

Students who have completed 4th-6th grades will have the opportunity to "major" in one of five areas, concentrating on a skill of their choice. Please rank your child's preference for the following majors. The selection of majors will be determined on a first come first serve basis. The majors are as follows:

  • Dance: Under the direction of a professional dance instructor, students will learn a dance that they will present during the Thursday night performance.

  • Visual Arts: Under the instruction of a professional art educator, students will create and display their artwork Thursday night in the foyer of the church.

  • Bible Art Journaling: Students will have the opportunity to learn a new and artistic method of Bible journaling! Students will display portions of their work at Family Night on Thursday night in Bibles that they will be able to take home.

  • Woodworking: Students will have the opportunity to create hands-on projects from wood. Their creations will be on display in the foyer during our Thursday evening dessert reception. This major requires an additional fee of $15 to cover the additional costs of supplies. If you opt for this major, please select the "4th-6th Grade Registration (Woodworking Major)” option.

Each child (registered by July 7) will receive a VBS/CAC t-shirt. Each family will receive a rehearsal CD of the music, included in the registration packet. DVDs of the musical can be ordered the evening of the performance (Thursday, July 18) for $5 (additional fees for postage).

Into the Wild Musical

This year our musical performance is "In the Wild." If your child is interested in auditioning for the cast, here is what you need to know:

  1. The Drama Audition will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. We will meet in the adult choir room which is directly behind the sanctuary. Parents, please plan to stay for the duration of the auditions.

  2. Campers do not have to be memorized, but being extremely prepared is highly suggested. Download the Script

  3. Mandatory staging rehearsal will be on Saturday, July 13 from 9:00 am-12:30 pm at FBNO. All cast members are required to attend. If your child is unable to attend this mandatory staging rehearsal, please do not audition for the drama.

Solo Auditions will be on Tuesday, July 16 after CAC, from 4:00-4:30 pm in the choir room. The songs can be found on YouTube - just type in "VBS 2019 - In the Wild" in your search. We will announce the songs for the solos soon!

Children attending CAC must bring a bag lunch each day.

Registering for CAC DOES NOT register you for VBS. Please register separately for VBS.

Registration for CAC is not complete until payment is made. Registration fees are non-refundable.
